Now everyone can call cheaply!
High phone bills and roaming charges while frequently on the move, spurred the developer of eSky to create the world telephone number – eNum.
Now everyone can call!
If you are online, you can make an eSky call on your PC or any smart phone device.
If you are offline, don’t fret, you can still make an eSky call using any regular old phone.
It is that simple.
eSky works on the Internet and GSM network both local and worldwide so users can call any corner of the earth. Tareq, a Bangladeshi working in Malaysia is overjoyed because calling home using eSky is so much cheaper compared to telco budget IDD calling. Shipping company, Narita uses the eSky IP Phone to make domestic and long distance calls with a savings of up to 90%. An out-going call costs only RM0.09 cents a minute to anywhere in Malaysia compared to Telekom Malaysia’s rates of RM0.30 to RM0.90 per minute charges. eSky is offering substantial savings compared to local telcos.
The core technology used is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). While traditional VoIP only works on internet connection with either PC or IP Phone, eSky has integrated VoIP with a mobile solution, offering consumers low cost, ease of use and mobility by assigning a one world telephone number – eNum.
You can make a eNum call while online on a PC, on an IP Phone, a regular mobile phone or an overseas mobile. If you have a mobile smart phone like iPhone, Android, Symbian, Blackberry or Window mobile you can also download eSky mobile softphone to make eNum call. It allows users to make calls anytime and anywhere using the internet or GSM network. And that is something normal VoIP providers and Telcos are not able to do – a virtual SIM card that can be used online or offline.
It took 3 years to get this product off the ground but based on the eSky world telephone solution, the business can be scaled up really fast. Currently the company is targeting 3 market segments:
Retail users
Resellers
Cobranding with Telco/ISP/VoIP
Currently there are eSky world telephone cards on sale in Malaysia and by June 2012, Indonesia will be carrying them as well through a partnership with an Indonesian VoIP provider – followed by the Philippines in July 2012, partnering Eastern Telecom and Telems Inc.
Mobile GSM and VoIP technology is set to change the global telecommunications market and eSky is poised to lead this mobile revolution. It is estimated that there will be 6 billion GSM mobile phone users by 2013 and 50% of them will be smart phone users. In the same year, the internet will see 3 billion users and one billion of them will be Facebook users. eSky wants to provide a world telephone number to connect their users. No monthly commitment to a local GSM provider, all that is needed is a smart phone or an internet device and an eNum.
The VoIP market segment is estimated at USD$ 4 trillion while the mobile VoIP segment is targeted to have 410 million users by 2015, coming from mainly urban industrial and commercial areas, driven by increased smartphone and mobile broadband adoption.
eSky is preparing to capitalise on this growth market by strategically partnering foreign resellers or telcos through marketing mission trips and participating in exhibitions. They are also advertising through Facebook and LinkedIn to acquire new retail customers.
